Porsche

This snippet is from my anthology story The Merchant Of Venice Beach ( a modern retelling) — In this scene, Porsche Keller is receiving the first of three suitors–

“Mr. Evans will be first,” Lewis pronounced, and said beefy boy walked over to his chair.

“Please accept this as something worthy of you, Mr. Keller,” the man said, and stood there while Porsche read his mother’s saying with a smile.

“A man who thinks well of himself blinds one to other things.”

He hurriedly opened the package, and it was all he could do not to start laughing out loud. His mother was so—spot on. The present was a silver and platinum picture frame with a photograph of Mr. Evans at the gym, dressed in as little as possible. After his lips stopped twitching and he regained his composure somewhat, he spoke.

“Thank you for the thoughtful gift, Mr. Evans.” He handed it to Lewis, who hovered

  5. Yep, he was a legend in his own mind 🙂 Needless to say, Porsche isn’t going to be picking him 🙂 the story follows the play, so we all know who gets the nod 🙂
