Poppa Lando

This snippet is from Heart’s Embers; Lando is surprising Jeffrey with a visit. He knows some things were left unsaid on that desperate phone call.

“Excuse me, young lady, is Dr. Bayfield in?”

Marsha looked up from her work, startled. He sounded like Jeffrey.

This man certainly didn’t match his deep, vibrant voice. He looked to be in his late seventies, and his rich complexion and profile reminded her of a South Seas war chief, with edges of curling, blue-black tattoos peeking from his collar and snaking down his muscled forearms. His close cropped head was pure white, and he was smiling at her.

Of course, war chiefs didn’t wear blue jeans and a hat that looked like it had once belonged to Crocodile Dundee.

  1. Nice image, and hell yeah for sexy men with white hair and tattoos. 🙂

    1. Testify 🙂 Lando is one of those sexy silver foxes 🙂 I’m on the prowl for a suitable image 🙂 I’m glad you liked the imagery; it’s something I try to do well.

    1. LOL Lando only looks like a war chief 🙂 no facial tattoos. He IS a shaman, though.

  4. Great description! I really enjoyed this. And thanks for the kind word on my snippet. The story in which that nightmare scene happened is complete but I haven’t shared anywhere or tried to publish. I’m scared to share more than snippets of my ‘love child’ with this often evil world. ~grin~ Happy Writing!

  5. I don’t share more than snippets either–thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Hey, as soon as you hit publish you possess a simple copyright, and our genre is great for policing their own. You’re right to be cautious, though.

  12. Thanks so much 🙂 Poppa Lando is Jeffrey’s foster father and mentor; he’s also a shaman. He married Bruce and Jeffrey at the end of The Ancient 🙂
